About BJ Kamler
Detailed drawings have always appealed to BJ. She was inspired to try drawing after her mother learned watercolor in her 60s and became a prolific artist. BJ began by challenging herself with small drawings she found in art instruction books. She started taking lessons from realistic-drawing artists. She has been drawing off and on for the last 19 years but has learned new techniques and drawn more since retiring in 2015.

Learning art has allowed her to observe the world around her in a whole new way. Her images of life and objects are a choice she makes to explicitly record her visual understanding to a depth and detail frequently overlooked. She tries to combine the science of light and space to give the viewer an opportunity to see more and to enjoy more of what is seen.

Medias include charcoal, graphite and colored pencils.

BJ resides with her husband in the St. Louis, MO area.
